Our Terms and Conditions

Feather & Black and The Iron Bed Company are trading names of Feather & Black Limited. The registered office of Feather & Black Limited is Gloucester House, Wellington Street, Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire NG10 4HT. Company Registration No. 5605548. VAT Registration No. 870 6384 07.

These terms & conditions of trading apply to all contracts between Feather & Black Limited ('us, we, our') and the customer ('you, your'). References to 'furniture' include beds, chairs and furniture.


1. Product
1.1. All goods are subject to availability.
1.2. All brochure descriptions of our products are correct at the time of going to press. We have a policy of continuous product development and reserve the right to amend the specification of products without prior notice in relation to future sales.
1.3. Beds and Mattresses are sold separately. All bed prices shown do not include a mattress.
1.4. All wood species react to sunlight and changes in temperature and humidity. Specifically, cherry wood darkens with exposure to sunlight and walnut gets lighter with exposure to sunlight. Oak reacts least to sunlight and will not change significantly in colour. Changes in temperature and humidity can cause solid wood to warp or split.
1.5. Wood and leather are natural products and will vary in colour. Leather may not be uniform in colour or texture and may show natural marks and scars on the hides.
1.6. Leathers and fabrics may fade with exposure to direct sunlight.

2. Measurements
2.1. All measurements in our brochure are rounded up to the nearest whole centimetre. Every care is taken to ensure all descriptions and measurements are correct at the time of printing the brochure. We retain the right to alter measurements and specifications without prior notice.
2.2. Please note that mattress sizes can vary slightly from dimensions given when new. After a little use they will spread to full size.

3. Pricing
3.1. Our price list is printed in our brochure and is inclusive of VAT.
3.2. In the unlikely event that the price of an item has been incorrectly advertised on our website, we will contact you by email to ask whether you wish to proceed with the order at correct price. If you are not happy to proceed, or we are unable to obtain your instructions, we will cancel the order. Unless we have already confirmed despatch of your order, we will not be obliged to supply products at the incorrect price.

4. Guarantees
4.1. If you find the same bed or furniture selling for less in another shop in the UK we will match the price.
4.2. All our furniture comes with a 3 year construction guarantee. This guarantee does not cover fair wear and tear; neglect, abuse or misuse of your goods.
4.3. Our guarantees 4.1 to 4.2 do not cover sales outside mainland UK.
4.4. The above guarantees are in addition to, and do not affect, your statutory rights.

5. Cancellations / Amendments
5.1. For stock items we are happy to accept cancellations at any time and refund your deposit in full.
5.2. We regret we cannot accept cancellations on orders that are made specifically for you. This includes bespoke upholstery items, wardrobes made to your specification and mattresses made to order. We are happy to amend your order during the first 7 days after the order has been placed. After this time, and when your product is in production, we cannot accept cancellation.

6. Payment
6.1. For all furniture orders we request a 25% deposit at the time of ordering with the balance to be paid 14 days before delivery. We will contact you to take the remaining balance prior to arranging your delivery. Delivery time is estimated at 4-8 weeks but wherever possible we will deliver sooner.
6.2. We cannot deliver to your home until payment has been received in full.
6.3. We offer finance options (licensed credit brokers, subject to status). Details are available in our showrooms.
6.4 Payment will be required in full at the time of ordering for all non furniture items.
6.5 We request payment in full at the time of placing your oredr for 48 hour delivery items.

7. Delivery/ Returns
7.1. We aim to deliver your order in 4-8 weeks from the date of order. However in certain parts of Scotland, Wales and the West Country delivery may be delayed by an additional 14 days.
7.2. Our standard delivery charges are for mainland England, Scotland and Wales. Delivery charges for islands will be quoted on an individual basis.
7.3. Our delivery service includes a two man delivery to a room of your choice. Assembled furniture will be unpacked and all packing materials removed. The majority of our furniture comes full assembled, the main exception being beds which require simple assembly. In the event you would like us to assemble your bed we offer a full asembly service for an additional £25, regardless of order size.
7.4. We will arrange delivery of your goods with you personally. Unfortunately it is not always possible to give you a timed appointment but wherever possible we will endeavour to meet your requirements.
7.5. Please ensure your old bed has been moved to allow the new one to be installed. However, do not dispose of your old bed or mattress until your new one arrives.
7.6. On receipt of your furniture or mattress, it is important that you fully check that the furniture is in good condition. You will be asked to sign the delivery note to confirm this.
7.7. In the event that a fault is discovered, you should notify us immediately and in any case not later than 24 hours after you received your furniture or mattress.
7.8. Our carrier will also take away your old mattress for a £25 charge. This can be arranged directly with the carrier at the time of booking your delivery.
7.9. In the event we are unable to complete a delivery because of access constraints to and/or in the building we reserve the right to charge for the furniture, mattress and any delivery costs in full.
7.10. If for any reason you are not happy with our furniture please notify us within 7 days of receipt and we will arrange for a collection and refund (excluding the delivery charge). Unfotunatley we have to make an exception for bespoke items which are made specifically for you, whic cannot be returned once the packaging has been removed.
7.11. Bespoke items include Wardrobe Solutions, upholstered beds, headboards, valances, upholstered chairs, mattresses made specifically to a customer's tension requirement.
7.12. Feather & Black (Feather & Black Limited) cannot be held responsible for delays caused by manufacturers or carriers. We make every effort to meet the estimated delivery date stated on the order form, however we will not accept any liability for any consequential loss.

8. Storage
8.1. All furniture and mattresses must be delivered into your home within 21 days of us contacting you to arrange delivery. We can store your furniture and mattress beyond this 3 week period, provided the balance has been paid in full, but storage charges, payable in advance, will be incurred. Storage is charged at 2.5% of your order value for every additional week stored.
8.2. If you do not arrange to take delivery of your furniture within 4 months of you being notified that your furniture is available for delivery, we reserve the right to cancel your order, retaining 50% of the order value.

9. Linen & Accessories Deliveries
9.1. Mail order linen delivery costs to mainland UK are as follows:
9.1.1. Standard Delivery (Monday to Fridays only £5.95
Allow 5 days for delivery
9.1.2. Next Day Delivery (Monday to Fridays only) £7.95
Orders must be placed by 2.00pm.
9.1.3. We can quote separately for deliveries to non-mainland UK. All overseas deliveries are subject to local import duties and taxes, and may be affected by Customs & Excise delays.

Linens, Bedding & Accessories Returns (Non furniture items)
Should you want to return any Linens, Towels or Nightwear for exchange or refund, please remember to do so within 28 days of receipt. The goods should be returned to us unused and in their original packaging.
Please ensure that the ‘Returns Form’, which is included with your goods and invoice, is completed for any items that you wish to return. In order to reduce the time taken to process your return, please obtain a ‘Returns Reference’ number from our Customer Services Team on 01243 380600.
Unfortunately returns cannot be processed through any of our stores. Please use the pre addressed sticky label provided and send the goods back to us: Returns Dept, Feather & Black, Terminus Road, Chichester. PO19 8ZZ
Customers are responsible for the cost of returning any goods to Feather & Black.
In the unlikely event that your parcel does not arrive with us, please ensure that you obtain ‘Proof of Posting’ provided by the Post Office at no additional cost. We cannot be held liable for goods lost in transit.
Upon receipt of your returned goods, you will be contacted by Feather & Black to arrange refund or exchange.
Please allow 14 days for us to process your return.
